Dia De Los Muertos Show at Bath House Cultural Center

This show had everything: children in tricorn hats, naked ex-Texas governors,  and a special appearance by the DPD.

Satori Deer

Read this article in Fortean Times and found it again online...
Andrew May's Forteana Blog: Satori - ape, goat-man or deer?
The story of the satori deer(see link) inspired an immediate mental visual train in my mind. The story is a zen Buddhist allegory for enlightenment coming to those who can silence chatter of the world inside and around them( a gross over simplification on my part)
I want to start a new series of images that deal with themes of freedom. The woodcutter in the story of the satori deer only silences it after he has stopped trying. What other stories are there to draw upon?
Exciting times!

Rawk Partee

Hey! I made those shirts! Some friends of mine participated in the Fun Fun Fun Fest
scavenger hunt this past Saturday and got bonus points for the shirts.

Zoombie Commission

I didn't ask too many questions about this one, there were 20 sided dice involved.

Ti Voglio Tanto Bene

19"x20" Multimedia on Hand Sewn Raw Canvas Backing

It is a picture of my Nonna
at the Red Cross Hospital with the Bay of Naples behind her. This photograph was taken by my grandfather soon after they met during WWII.In Italian, "Ti voglio tanto bene" would be how you would say "I love you" to a relative or a friend as opposed to "Ti amo" for a lover...
Literally it means "I want you very well" but it means "I love you very much", and we would always say that to each other when we parted ways.

Not the best photograph of this piece, but I have a bit more work to do/re-shoot it for portfolio submission to the Day of the Dead show at Bath House Cultural Center anyway...

Cadejo Bock

So, these are the first in a series of labels for an independent brewer here in Dallas.
The beer itself is a bock so rich and dark it's starting to border on porter...

Pine Cone Snail

Something inspired by the aquatic critters of the Gulf of Mexico. Also, I get really bored at work.

"It's a snail!" "It's a pine cone!"  "Wait, you're BOTH right!"

Happy Mothers Day!

My mom wanted me to make her a drawing of our dogs (L to R:Sophie, Rosie, and Sunshine)

One of the great things about being an artist is that making your mom a drawing as a present is always going to remain a viable gift option :)
